In the world of design, inspiration can come from a million different sources at any one point in time. When we look at an accessory, a piece of furniture, an architectural addition or an exterior, we see all of the various influences and inspirations that went into that element.
In the realm of real estate, nothing exists in a vacuum. Homes are inspired at once by history and by the possibilities of the future. Technology and nature come together to influence home structures and interiors in multidimensional ways. While there is no one answer to the common question of, “Where do you get your ideas?” I will give you a few of the sources where we derive the greatest inspiration for our work in the home market.
All around us, always changing and always giving us something new to learn or beautiful to see, the natural world is certainly one of our largest sources of inspiration. Not only is it saturated with the senses – from the smell of freshly cut grass to the feel of soft wool to the sound of bird songs to the taste of ripe berries – but it is peaceful and relaxing. Nature inspires us to bring the outside in to incorporate elements of its restorative and revitalizing character as often as we can.
Artistic and architectural history have an incredibly rich and diverse impact on our work in design and in the real estate landscape. We stand on the shoulders of the hundreds of thousands of influential artists, architects, designers, builders and creators who have shaped the fields of art, design and construction. From Michelangelo to Frank Lloyd Wright, we salute you and are grateful for your precedence.
Though it is easy to take for granted, the various hues of the world around us are ever-present and provide us with constant inspiration. Color is one important element that can completely rehab a home in a jiffy, and when color is thoughtfully considered, it can make all the difference in the ambiance of a space. From the magenta shades of a magnificent sunrise to the vibrant bright whites of the Sydney opera house to the dark richness of cast iron cookware, we are motivated and struck by color wherever we go.
As abundant as technology is in today’s world, it never ceases to amaze us by how quickly and dramatically it is progressing. We are always inspired by the clean lines of stainless steel machinery, the look and feel of modern industrialism and the chic simplicity of highly technological design. We source plenty of inspiration from technology in its many forms, whether it is a futuristic color scheme or a design theme based around sleek monochrome basics.
Working in real estate or doing rehab projects on a home is never just a venture for pure profit. It is always an adventure in design, seeing where the inspiration pulls us next and creating or inventing new ways of doing things. We will continue to be inspired in new ways as long as people continue to be inspired to love their homes and the things within.
